Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte renewed their Sister City Agreement during a ceremony held in Quezon City on Aug. 26.
Robredo, in a Facebook post, thanked Belmonte, City Administrator Mike Alimurung, and the department heads of Quezon City for their warm reception.
“Thank you very much, Mayor Joy Belmonte, City Administrator Mike Alimurung and the QC
Department Heads for the warm welcome,” Robredo said.
She added, “Looking forward to our shared programs and the strong partnership between our beloved cities. We hope to also welcome you in Naga City very soon.”
Belmonte, in a separate statement, said the renewed agreement will allow both cities to share best practices and make it easier to extend aid whenever needed.
The partnership traces back to Robredo’s June 4 visit to Quezon City Hall, where Belmonte presented housing initiatives and digital governance reforms.
Among the projects showcased were the fully online business transaction system, the QCitizen ID, the
District Action Offices, and digitized systems for the Public Library, Health Department, and birth registration.
During that meeting, Belmonte expressed her intention to forge a Sister City Agreement with Naga to strengthen cooperation and exchange programs.
The two leaders first signed the agreement in June before its renewal this week.
