A social media post claiming that Naga City is planning to remove overhead utility wires, commonly referred to as “spaghetti wires,” circulated online and drew widespread attention.

Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo is in talks with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and National Electrification Administration (NEA) to collaborate on the proposed underground cabling project and major revamp in the city.

• DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon met with Mayor Leni Robredo on June 20 for a pre-inspection meeting to discuss the potential redesign of M.T Villanueva Avenue in Naga City.
• The redevelopment also includes Shared PUV and Biker Lane, Lay-By for vehicles, improved pedestrian lanes, and tactile pavement indicators for PWDs. 
• On the same day, NEA Administrator Antonio Almeda met with Robredo to discuss the underground cabling project that would remove ‘spaghetti wires’ in the city.
• Almeda also said that the project will serve as “the pilot for the entire country” to increase safety during severe weather conditions.
