In his fifth State of the Nation Address, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said that the government is now on course to do rocket launches in Cagayan, as part of the country’s bid to create a space port.
“Cagayan, is more geographically and economically primed to serve as our gateway to space and host the country’s first space port,” Marcos said.
The country will do test launches with sounding rockets, smaller types of rockets which are used for atmospheric and space research, and to test components before it can be placed in launch vehicles and satellites.
Launching tests will be made in partnership with South Korean aerospace companies.
