Overtime and clutch plays highlighted the opening stretch of the 2026 PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup, as the Terrafirma Dyip stunned its foe behind Mubashar Ali, while the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters fended off the Macau Black Knights to secure a statement win, March 14.

Terrafirma Dyip leaned on a historic performance from import Mubashar Ali to nose out the Converge FiberXers, 111–100, in a dramatic overtime at the Ynares Center in Montalban, Rizal.

The 7-foot Finnish-native delivered his prowess with 50 points and 25 rebounds, carrying the Dyip in the second half and the extra minutes to secure their second straight win in the conference.

Mubashar forced overtime after tying the game at 100-all with a quick baseline spin and a layup with 16.6 seconds left in regulation.

Terrafirma seized control from that point as Jerrick Ahanmisi sank a three-pointer, while Ali capped his dominant night with a layup to reach 50 points and stave off Converge.

Terrafirma Dyip will take on Blackwater Bossing, while FiberXers will battle against Meralco Bolts on March 18.

Rain or Shine downs Macau for winning start

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters tipped off their Commissioner’s Cup campaign with a grueling 116–109 victory over guest squad Macau Black Knights on the same day.

Import Jaylen Johnson surged the Elasto Painters with an all-around performance of 29 points, 24 rebounds, and six assists, anchoring Rain or Shine’s offense throughout the tournament.

Jaylen Johnson’s late three-pointer gave the Elasto Painters a brief cushion, but the Black Knights responded with a 9–2 rally led by Chon Pong Lao to deadlock the score at 107-all.

Momentum swung back to Rain or Shine after Tony Mitchell was called for a technical foul, setting up Gian Mamuyac’s free throw and Adrian Nocum’s beyond the arc play before Jhonard Clarito sealed the win in the last nine dying ticks with a late layup and free throws.

The Elasto Painters will face the TNT Tropang Giga on March 20 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, while Macau Black Knights aim to bounce back against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on the same day.
