A Facebook post claims that Batangas 2nd District Representative Gerville “Jinky” Luistro commented on why tennis player Alex Eala always wears green and suggested that she wear blue or red instead.

The post presented a quote allegedly made by Luistro during a press briefing in which she commented on Eala’s frequent use of green attire and suggested that she wear blue or red instead. 

The alleged quote shows:

“Bakit si Alex Eala, laging naka-green? Dapat mag-blue naman siya. O kaya mag-red siya”

The remarks were confirmed during an August 6 press briefing, where Rep. Luistro made a comment on Alex Eala’s green attire and suggested she wear blue or red. 

FACTS:

• During a press briefing on August 6, Rep. Luistro asked why tennis player Alex Eala was “always” wearing green and said she should wear blue instead. After someone at the briefing said Eala was being ‘claimed’ by supporters of Vice President Sara Duterte because of the green outfit, Luistro replied, “Kaya nga, ’di ba. O kaya mag-red siya.” 
• While there is no evidence showing that Eala’s attire was linked to her political stance, Rep. Luistro’s statement at the press briefing was in relation to the ‘color’ of the sports attire and did not discuss her performance as an athlete.
